🇮🇩 Indonesia Confirms No Israeli Athletes in Jakarta Gymnastics 2025
FIG notes Indonesia’s visa decision as organizers prepare for Southeast Asia’s first gymnastics world championship.

The Main Takeaway🎯
The Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (Gimnastik Indonesia) confirmed that Israeli athletes will not participate in the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships (Jakarta Gymnastics 2025), scheduled for October 19–25 at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta.
The decision follows the Indonesian government’s directive not to issue visas to the Israeli delegation, which was conveyed by the Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, last week.

Why It’s on Our Radar🔍
The announcement was made after a coordination meeting between Indonesian Gymnastics Federation Chairwoman Ita Yuliati and NOC Indonesia President Raja Sapta Oktohari in Jakarta on Friday (Oct 10).
The federation said it had previously conveyed Indonesia’s position to the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) when Jakarta was appointed host, in line with national regulations and diplomatic policies.
In a statement Friday, FIG acknowledged the Indonesian government’s decision and recognized the challenges faced by the host. The organization did not announce sanctions or venue changes and expressed hope that global sporting events can take place “safely and with peace of mind for all athletes.”
On Saturday (Oct 11), the Israel Gymnastics Federation said it had submitted an urgent appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, seeking an injunction to allow Israeli athletes to participate in the competition.

The Big Picture📸
86 countries are registered for Jakarta Gymnastics 2025.
The competition will mark the first time Southeast Asia hosts a FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championship.
The event’s local organizing committee (LOC) operates under FIG supervision.
Why This Hits Home 💬
The Indonesian government’s stance reflects President Prabowo Subianto’s strong condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza, a message he delivered at the UN General Assembly.
Indonesia has maintained a consistent policy on Israeli participation in international sports events. In 2023, the country was stripped of hosting rights for the FIFA U-20 World Cup after refusing to host Israel’s youth team.
Bottom Line✨
Jakarta Gymnastics 2025 will go on — without Israel. For Indonesia, it’s not just about gymnastics. It’s a statement of sovereignty, solidarity, and principle in a politically divided world 🌍🤝.
